So is there no need to build a lot of profiles?
When I got NI 4.0 the other day, I redid my profiles. I did over 8 shutter speeds for each of 5 iso's 49 in all This was just for compression Fine on my A2. It really is not all that much trouble to do these, especially with your new batch profile builder. Since I also use Dalibor's MRWFormat, and i...

Photoshop Timing - Focus Magic, Radial Blur
I did a few timing tests with Focus magic, and the results were just wild as with NI. With Photoshop's own radial blur filter, short times were inaccurate, but one which took 182 seconds on the stopwatch was reported as 202 seconds by PS - only a 10% error. I am not going to do many more of them. So...

4.0 and Photoshop timing
I thought I had posted this earlier today, but it does not seem to have appeared on the board. An 8mp Minolta A2 image consistently takes 28 seconds to filter with NI 4.0 on my Pentium 4 2.8 ghz, timed with a stopwatch. However, the timer in Photoshop CS gives numbers like 36, 56, 60, and even 130 s...

Profile matching
I built the profiles with the stand alone, although I nearly always use the plugin.

That fixed it.
Thank you.
The 8bi file name and date, time and size were unchanged, but the problem is fixed.

Profile matching problem persists
I jsut redownloaded the software. The new version of NI.8bi is 4/4/2004 4.04am, 853,504 bytes. I had deleted the old one. However, the problem persists. When I invoke the plugin, I get the message the 'there is no image.' I can still click the auto match button and it works just fine. Best wishes

4.0 Profile Building and Matching
I just shot 49 new profile pix, and ran your automatic profile builder on the whole folder. I did not time it accurately, but it took a few minutes. That is a great addition to the program. Then I loaded an image, and I again got the message that it could not match the profile because there was no i...

4.0 Converted profiles
Thank you very much for the new version. My first impression is that you seem to have included everything any of us have asked for. I am using a Minolta A2. I did the auto profile conversion, and the profiles were placed as designed in the new NI folder. However, when I loaded an image into the Plug...

Using NI in a PS Action
In Photoshop CS an action runs NI 3.1 plugin with no problem. However, it runs automatically with no presentation of options. Is it using the last profile used, or is it automatically selecting a profile based on the EXIF? In direct use of NI, I have it set to auto select the profile, which incident...

Using NI to convert to 48 bit
This works in the stand alone, but not in the plug in.
In the plug in the option is greyed out, but shows which ever value you had set in the stand alone. However, filtering an image in the plugin does not change the mode to 16 bit.

Automatiing Profile Building.
Successful use of NI, especially in batch mode, requires good pre stored profiles. However, a reasonable aim would be to cover ten shutter speeds for each iso - in my case 40 images. Processing these is tedious, and it is easy to miss a step - if the phone rings you might forget to save copy the Exi...

Auto Profile Selection for A1
I suspect that auto profile selection does not work consistently for the A1 also. I have not had time to repeat my profile production to be sure the EXIF data was copied to all of them. However, if others are having this problem, that is probably the same for me. It might be significant that I am us...

Photoshop Timer
The Photosop CS timer reports wildly inaccurate and inconsistent timing of Neat Image 3.0 plugin. After noticing times as long as 224 seconds for a 5 mp image, I checked with a stopwatch. The truth was 60 to 70 seconds. A 1.28 megapixel crop on 4 tries was consistently between 19 and 20s with the st...

Plug in. Layer shrinks after filtration.
I was just looking at a sample picture from the new Dimage A1. It contained a small rectangle taken at iso 800, so I selected the rectangle, made the selection into a layer, and filtered it with NI. The filtration result was very good, but the layer had shrunk about 2.5%, and now had a dark fringe, ...
