Nikon D800 profiles

I note that there a 3 profiles available for download for the Nikon D800, 2 of which are labelled RAW and 1 which is labelled JPEG so I am assuming they are only suitable for use on those file types.. As I export my images from Lightroom in TIFF format I am wondering whether they would be suitable f...

Further to my previous post, I had a couple of images that I could not eliminate colour noise from completely in NI so managed to remove just that offending noise in LR then very successfully finished off in NI - very happy with the outcome, particularly for higher ISO shots.

Thanks Vlad

Thanks for the clarification Vlad.

I have now reset my LR defaults to no Sharpening or Noise Reduction and I am finding in more than a few cases that NI's Auto Profiling gives a better result for colour noise reduction than the camera-specific profile, especially at higher ISO (e.g. 3200).

Still a little confused

I remain a little confused about sharpening/noise reduction when using NI in conjunction with Lightroom CC. My workflow is as follows. Transfer files from camera using NX2 Import into Lightroom CC Apply adjustments for exposure/contrast/etc in LR Save as TIFF and then open in NI for denoising and sh...

Saving image noise and sharpening parameters

Is it possible to save the NI settings so that if you want to come back and tweak, say, the noise or sharpening that you can pick up where you left off e.g. I export a TIFF from Lightroom, work on that TIFF in NI then export it as a JPEG. Sometimes I may want to change the dimensions of the image wh...

Thanks for the reply Vlad.

I also have some images which were previously sharpened in Lightroom which I now want to process using NeatImage - should I remove the sharpening before treating them in NeatImage?

In-camera sharpening vs NI

Using the Nikon Standard Picture Control, image sharpening is preset but can be modified.
Should I continue with the preset value or turn it off altogether and just rely on NI?

Thanks Vlad - I will re-shoot them as the effect on noise removal using the calibration sheet is negligible.

Question re calibration target

When using the Profiling with Calibration Target method, the point is made that the image needs to be out of focus i.e. focus on infinity. How "out of focus" does the image need to be? For instance, I am using 70-300mm lens @ 100mm on a Nikon D3200 from a distance of about 2 metres. If I u...
