Re: Corrected video looks extra jerky?!

Hi everyone, I just applied noise reduction on a 3 minute clip of a band that I filmed. However it came out jerky and stuttery in places. What's going on? I exported uncompressed to Avi. The only external factor I can see was that there was some slight strobe lighting effect in the venue, can this ...

NV before or after upconverting?

Regarding SD video you plan to upconvert to HD dimensions, as far as the quality of results, should it make any difference whether you apply NV before or after upconverting?

Two hits with NV?

I've experimented with trying two passes of NV - i.e. denoising a denoised file, but so far I've found it just makes a mess. Anyone tried this with success?

Preview window and access to Noise Filter Settings tab

The preview under the Noise Filter Settings tab is not accurate compared to how the video actually ends up looking - this is a fundamental element that should be fixed. It currently takes three clicks to access the Noise Filter Settings tab from the Neat Video Configuration applet. There should be a...

NV and fireworks

I have standard def fireworks video I'm working on. The problem I run into is that the apparent noise level varies between dark portions and places where the fireworks mortars explode and reveal more noise.

Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Does NV have issues with HuffYuv codec?

Apparently the problem was being caused by using the Virtualdub Brightness/Contrast filter downstream from NV. After taking the B/C filter out and using just NV, the issue at least so far seems to have disappeared. Perhaps the thing to do is apply only NV and do other processing in subsequent steps....

Huffyuv begin to be a little old and not maintened. Try using UT video instead. You'll have the same features, even more format handled (YV12 for exemple), same compression result and faster. Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at UT, apparently it requires Vista or newer, my video machine is runni...

Since NV is not directly intreracting with any codecs, it cannot choke on a specific one. The host application can but not NV itself. I am not sure it is a codec issue though. Could be something else as well. I have the sliders under the "Noise Reduction Amounts" section all set to 0. I f...

Since NV is not directly intreracting with any codecs, it cannot choke on a specific one. The host application can but not NV itself. Can you explain this? All video is some kind of codec, how does NV not interact with it? Could you prepare a reproducible test case (a small test project with just e...

Does NV have issues with HuffYuv codec?

I just did some processing of files and find I'm getting some glitches - parts where this multicolored "rainbow" static shows up. I'm going from DV to HuffYuv. Below is a link on google drive to an example of one variation of the issue. Other parts of the video are fine, certain frames dis...

1. Make sure you build the noise profile accurately, as there are not many areas suitable for analysis in these frames. 2. Try to apply less spatial noise reduction (decrease the Y noise reduction amount inside Neat Video window) and add more temporal noise reduction (increase the temporal filter r...

Losing detail in streams of water

I find that the setting that gets rid of most of the artifacts in other places kills detail in jets of water as seen in the pics below. Notice how the ripples in the water jets get washed/smoothed out. The setting that seems to make the biggest difference is noise reduction level in the Y channel bu...

Suggestions to reduce "churning water" effect?

Any suggestions to minimize or eliminate the churning water effect - i.e. where it looks like you're viewing the video through heat waves in denoised video?

Re: Jesus! Render is slow

I don't know if this has been addressed but if you have a newer Nvidia GPU you can utilize the unused memory to help speed up processing. I'm currently running a GTX 460 1gb ram. Apparently it doesn't work with AMD GPU's.

How would you treat this interference noise in a video?

Trying to remedy a specific kind of noise in a video, this horizontal banding that looks like electrical interference of some sort. Not talking about the interlace combing but rather the background banding. Below is a screen shot and a link to a short .mpg example. Original http://forum.videohelp.co...
