Jeff, thank you for your comment. I will answer your questions: Yes, you can save JPGs in the Pro edition, you can select output file type using the Save dialog box. Neat Image uses standard JPG compression with adjustable quality parameter. You can vary the quality factor when saving the output fil...

Josh, fefifo, Thank you for your kind comments and support. Yes, we do currently work on a plugin version. There is certain progress with this version though it is still not time to release anything. What makes us spending more time on this work is the fact that we are aiming at the multiplatform co...

Please use the instructions you received with the registration key. There are steps described to download and register the software.

Yes, it is capable. You just need to use it on a computer with large enough RAM.

BTW, you can check whether it works with your images - download the Demo and process an image.

Bri,

I removed the analyzed image area from the profiles (see the bottom of http://www.neatimage.com/ug/Profiling_options.htm ). You can include or exclude it from the profiles depending on the purpose of this profile.

Gary, This depends on the original image. If it is very large, then it is probably easier/faster to reduce the size and then filter it. However in case of digital camera images, I would filter first and reduce the size afterwards. For some more details, please take a look at http://www.neatimage.net...

Bri, Thank you for the profiles. In general, I think that there is no problem at all with your results. It is easy to understand why the noise levels vary a bit: you shot in a low ISO mode, where noise levels are generally quite low (which means they are difficult to measure accurately). This, combi...

Bri,

It doesn't make much sense to select any of the above unless I am certain that the profiles were correctly built. Please send me the profiles. I want to see what areas did you use for initial analysis.

Thank you,

Do you open a wrong file? Please try again and pay more attention to the file name as well as its type. I believe this will help.

Bri, Thank you for the reply. The difference in the EQ values may be caused by the difference in the areas you select to build a rough profile. This shouldn't be significant, but still this is a factor that may lead to different EQ values. Please send me a couple of profiles to look at. Thank you, V...

You are right, taking an out-of-focus shot will eliminate unnecessary patterns. This is exactly what we recommend in the profiling instructions:

Hope this helps.

I will answer two your questions: 1) Yes, there may be a minor difference in the noise properties of cameras of the same model. However, this difference is not significant and therefore using a profile built using another instance of camera of the same model is a good starting point. If you take a l...

You can print the calibration target on a sheet of paper and then shot it. This will eliminate banding.
Regarding the changing shutter speed, you can then vary the power of light, which illuminates the paper, the to get different shutter speed.

Hope this helps.

Andreas, With respect to behavior of NI in Virtual PC, unfortunately I cannot check your observations. I don't think there is a memory leak or bug in NI itself (don't forget, it works flawlessly on thousands of Windows computers), but rather I suspect an incomplete compatibility due to limitations o...

NI does need a rectangular area to be able to build a rough profile and several more rectangular areas to fine-tune this rough profile. The fact the areas should be rectangular is not big limitation, especially given there is always a possibility to build a profile using another image shot in the sa...
