I tried a few more batch tests, and the results strongly suggest something is amiss with the "very low frequency" option. I tried several different batches of images, using a variety of profiles: First try used the "Filter low frequency splotches" preset. That resulted in random ...

I did a bit more testing late last night, and it appears to be related to the use of the "Filter low frequency splotches" filter preset. I tried different profiles, different sets of images (including those that I know worked fine in the past in a batch), different output image types, mult...

Partial completion of images?

I recently shot at a local nightclub to help promote one of the monthly shows, and was putting together a bunch of photos for a local artist who was providing free glow-in-the-dark bodypainting during the evening. This meant ISO 3200 pushed one stop, f/2.0 lens wide open, 1/30s shutter speed, etc. I...

I would also like to see PNG support. Input and output, 16-bit channels, retain alpha channel, retain ICC profile and other metadata, etc.

Julio, That's exactly what I did with my 10D profiles ( http://www.neatimage.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=699 ), but using C1 as the raw convertor. I'm not sure how much extra benefit there is (haven't had time to measure), but it's easy to do this with 4.0's batch profile generator, so I figured, why ...

Dual Opteron 244 (1.8 GHz), 2 GB DDR400 RAM (2-3-2-7, I think), AMD-8000 chipset

Time (1 image): 0m35s, 13.54 megapixels/minute
Time (2 images): 0m45s, 21.06 megapixels/minute

It's too bad NI can't work on a single image using multiple CPU's.

It means you get to upgrade from one version to the next, as long as you stay within the same "edition": NeatImage Home 3.1 -> NeatImage Home 4.0 NeatImage Pro 3.1 -> NeatImage Pro 4.0 NeatImage Pro+ 3.1 -> NeatImage Pro+ 4.0 You cannot do: NeatImage Home 3.1 -> NeatImage Pro 4.0 ... witho...

Yep, that's pretty much what I did to produce the screenshot from one of my earlier messages asking about the colour vs B&W thing.

I recreated my full set of profiles with 4.0 (ISO 100 to 3200 in 1-stop increments, then three copies of each at EV0, EV+1 and EV+2) using the batch profile generator, and my first impression is that the filtering is actually too strong. But I've only tried them out with a bunch (over 500) of ISO 16...

Results with NeatImage 4.0 (woo!): Dual Opteron 244 (1.8 GHz), 2 GB DDR400 RAM: 21.18 megapixels/minute That is the average per-image time with a 10-image batch, including the "adding jobs" phase, using the "Filter and sharpen image" preset, with new version 4.0 profiles. Anyone ...

Year in review!

I just noticed that I've been a NeatImage user for 14 months now. My software registration receipt is dated February 5 2003. The most noticeable improvement over that period of time is the processing speed. In a thread dated around that time, I said I was seeing about 7 minutes to process a 6-megapi...
