Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9

The Neat Image Photoshop plugin works with Paint Shop Pro 9 as far as I can tell. Would it not be good if the NI installer recognized this?

Also, it would be good if it somehow would be possible for the NI plugin to use EXIF information when loaded from PSP9.

7) Bayer interpolation Interference patterns and moiré artifacts. A de-mosaic/antialias feature would be cool. Together with the dcraw code NeatImage could work directly with the bayer algorithm to prevent noise and remove it before (or during) rendering of the image - giving even higher resolution...

Imo it would be a good feature as I believe the noise reduction algorithms could be merged with the bayer interpolation algorithm used to render the image from a RAW file.

Yea, I wanted to reduce more noise from the image than the default (60%) which still leaves noise left. Trying to reduce that too whithout reducing the details is difficult.

Multiple noise removal steps for enhanced control

I just experimented with a very high ISO image and how to best remove noise from it. This is an experiment of removing noise in two steps instead of one to prevent plastic looking results. The left image is processed in several steps with NI and the right is one go only. There is not much difference...

Yes, I agree. If the sharpening algorithm can be adjusted so that it takes into accound noise etc it can be indeed very powerful. As it is now I feel that the sharpening is to strong so it maskes small details instead. It does not give per-pixel sharpening like the USM in Photoshop gives using 500%,...

I would agree that these are many good points. Perhaps lens distortions like barrel or fisheye correntions probably do not applly to NeatImage. Though I can see a cheat way to implement such a feature by having a target to photograph and then measure how much the target it distorted in the picture. ...

The most important factor is ISO level. Then I would say that Sharpness, contrast, compression (jpeg level) and saturation will affect some too. The shutter speed should not matter that much unless it is very long exposures. I always shoot with the camera set to never do sharpening or contrast chang...

RAW image support through dcraw

Would it be possible for Neat Image to add support for RAW formats using the source code for dcraw which is available at http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/ ? A test with DCRAW vs. Canon's own RAW utility: * http://www.insflug.org/raw/analysis/dcrawvsfvu/ * http://www.aim-dtp.net/aim/digicam/dcr...

Or they most commonly allow "one user" at a time no matter how many installations you have. Always best to carefully read the rules before paying.

Currently I am manually selecting the closest ISO match I can determine myself and the fine tune it. Seem to work ok.

This only happens with Auto-ISO and RAW mode and not with JPEG. Maybe I should ask Nikon to make a firmware update for it.

It is not not that the quality is nesssesary worse or better with the profiles on this website, but that each sensor, even between the same model of cameras, can have different noise charasteristics.

I have some comments on noise on cameras. The gray patches, as Vlad said, is probably very much enough for most users.. However, I do believe that the profiling could be a tad better with saturated colours. Yes, the "gray" is really all colours. But due to the way the image sensor works wi...

Nikon CoolPix RAW images and no ISO speeds

This happen when the camera is set to Auto ISO mode combined with RAW file format. then the ISO rating is stored as "auto" instead of a number. This confuses NI and it always selects the ISO 800 profile. Is there a way to make NI make a better guess, perhaps by "testing" the avai...
