That is possible though you have to understand that to be used on both PC and Mac, a PS plugin (like any other application) should come in two distinct versions, thus complicating the development (read increasing time and cost).

Re: Procedure for generating profile

I have downloaded the profile target. Should I print it and take a picture of it? You can either print it and then shot it OR just shot it on the screen. Having taken the picture, should I make it into a grayscale? No, there is nothing like that in the instruction. Should I try to match the RGB num...

Well, you are right, you need free space for all those filtered images. Compression is not a good option (you can only expect twofold lossless compression at expense of considerable increase in processing time). Lossy compression is not an option. - You want to see the real filtration result, not th...

Not commenting on the content (which is very interesting), I just want to say that the filtration looks very good. The original shows some noise+JPEG compression artifacts and the filtered image is much cleaner (but not too much).
Good example, thank you for showing, Michel. :)

1. Open an original image (OI) in Neat Image, filter it and save the filtered image (FI) 2. Open both OI and FI in Photoshop 3. Select FI, click Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C (this copies FI to clipboard) 4. Select OI, click Ctrl+V (this pastes FI into a new layer on top of OI) 5. Select Eraser tool, adjust i...

This is a good idea and I believe many people already do that.. in Photoshop, by combining the original and filtered images layered on top of each other and by brushing the top (filtered) image to selectively restore parts of the original. Producing a Mac version most likely will be a matter of a few months.
Before that time I recommend either to use Virtual PC to run NI on Mac, or to run it on a real PC.

Our upgrade policy is that registered users receive special offers. That may be a free upgrade like it is with users of NI v1.x Home edition who receive NI v2.x Home edition for free. That may be a discount - like it is with upgrade to the Pro edition. With respect to the future versions of Neat Ima...

Nils, Neat Image uses device noise profiles that normally depend on camera parameters. If you build these profiles immediately after receiving the images from the camera (without postprocessing) then you just need to keep records of these camera parameters. If you do some processing (conversion, tra...

I have found some hints about SSE support in the Internet. People say that it may be a problem of Linux itself (its kernel was not compiled to support SSE, etc.) rather than WINE. Probably all you need is to rebuild the kernel with all the advanced CPU features supported.

It seems WINE doesn't know how to handle SSE commands.

We could force NI to disable use of SSE when necessary.. Are you sure this cannot be solved by updating WINE?

This feature is something nice to have but not easy to implement (sic). Moreover, it is even more difficult to provide recovery from OS crashes. BTW, I never had any similar experience with XP. It works flawless. Thank you for the suggestion anyway. We will see if that will be possible to implement ...
