The problem is most likely in the compression settings. Please check the compression settings in VirtualDub (menu Video | Compression...).

Please use the installation instruction from the following file:

Have you updated your version of NV to the latest v2.0 or are you still using v1.x that you originally purchased? We did introduce some optimizations in v2.0 so it should be more stable. If you still get that error message with v2.0 then please send an e-mail to NV support and we will try one more o...

Thank you for the clarifications. I think NV already does the thing that you are trying to do by hand: set the noise levels up to the point where image details start to be affected and then back off some just to be conservative. This is how noise profiling is working now. And it is mostly automatic,...

Could you clarify why you prefer to work with absolute values instead of relative ones? When we have absolute values (the results of objective measurements) in the noise profile and relative values (the subjective adjustments by the user) in the filter settings then we can separate objective and sub...

Using the regular noise level sliders in the Noise Filter Settings tab is in fact adjusting the noise levels. :)

I recommend to install the latest version of DivX codecs as well, this should help (the SampleClip.avi is encoded using a DivX codec). Also, do not forget that you can use any of your own clips as well. The process is the same, the only difference is that you will have to build your own profile for ...

I do appreciate your frustrations. Moreover, I do share them because most of these problems are really caused by Vegas itself and we often cannot do much about those problems. Vegas does have certain limitations in its plug-in interface and this is the root of the majority of problems you and me hav...

Generally, in a situation like this, I recommend to contact the support staff (including me) directly by e-mail. Please send in a sample project or projects showing an unwanted effect and we will try to find a solution. It may be something caused by the plug-in, or by compression, or by peculiaritie...

Re: Neat Video and Virtualdub

I had used Neat Video in Virtualdub and my video still has a lot of noise. Perhaps you could use a more agressive noise reduction in NV so that the results were less noisy after using NV alone? I would like to know if I should use one of Virtualdub filter along with Neat Video to improve the vhs vi...

If an available MSU filter works well then it would perhaps be a dublication of effort to re-do the same once again. Anyway, thank you for the suggestion. We will consider this feature for future versions of the software.

I highly recommend to use YCrCb whenever you process a color video. RGB should only be used for special purposes (please see the page 19 in the user guide for more details). Regarding a frame for noise analysis, you can find select a frame with large flat featureless areas using the window attached ...

Another figure: a 720x480 footage in Pro plug-in for Premiere, with Temporal Filter Radius = 1, is processed at 2.8fps on a 2GHz Core 1 Duo; CPU usage > 90%.

The Demo plug-in should filter only 640x480 pixels in each frame. On a Core 2 Duo 3.26 MHz, NV with Time Radius=2 gave 7 fps in our test with a similar 640x480 video clip. In your test, the speed seems to be just 1 fps (25 fps * 60sec / 60sec/min * 25 min). This difference may be caused by different...
