8 core is not the best

Post by fenomeno83 »

Hi. I've a 8 cpu configuration.
When I make optimize performance, the best is 5/6 cores.
So, why I can't use all cores for best performances?

Thanks

You can use all cores but using less cores will provide better speed.
You can compare that with the number of cars on the road. Once you have too many cars, traffic jams start to slow down them all.

Ok. But for example here for neatvideo https://blog.neatvideo.com/post/cpu-for-noise-reduction
is sayd that more cores produces faster processing.
So i was especting that 8 cores are faster that 5 cores(that are fastest configuration in my test)

The optimal number of cores depends on the "width of the road". When it is wide, the maximum available number is the best.
When it is not so wide, the optimal number may be lower. The Optimize test helps to directly find the optimal number.

Regarding the blog post, it discusses CPUs from the point of view of choosing a new CPU for the job. Usually, a CPU with more cores performs faster.
That is usually true even if the optimal number of cores (for Neat Video processing) is lower than the total number of cores.
