Neat Image as external editor for Lightroom

Post by sixpence »

Lightroom 2 offers a way of adding external programs as export 'plugins'.
The program doesn't need menus, as the files are passed through the Export Dialog and saved from it.

A few companies are using this method: PTLens and a competitor.
I think you should look into this method.

The SDK is available from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshoplightroom/

You may already be doing a Win version, but I thought I'd mention this here.

If you do, I'd be available for beta testing.

We are looking into these options as well. Please note that the Windows version of Neat Image can be used as an external editor right away, we discussed this in this thread. Also, you may want to try this option: How to use Neat Image as a (pseudo) plugin for Lightroom. Once again, we are looking into this to offer a better integration with Lightroom. I hope I will be able to provide more information in the coming 1-2 months.

Thank you for offering your help. I will keep you in mind if we start a beta-testing.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the reply Vlad.

That would work, except for the waiting for photoshop to load bit!
Of course in the export queue, you can also save presets, for a quicker experience.

I have received your e-mail too, and will reply here.

For Mac OSX we currently offer plug-ins for Photoshop and plug-ins for Aperture.

Also, modern Macs can run Windows. You may want to try using the Windows versions of Neat Image in Bootcamp or in Fusion. You can use it with Windows version of LR in this case.

Hope this helps,

Yes, we will probably develop such a version in the future.

I'm still interested in this if you do have a Beta program on it.
