Sharpen First or After?

Post by Sally »

When using NI, is it best to sharpen your image first (if needed), or do it after you have removed the noise? I have noticed that if I remove the noise, then sharpen, the noise seems to be increased again. Also, the more noise etc I remove, the softer the image gets.

Also, do most people on here use the automatic 'Remove Noise' tab, or do it yourself manually?

Sorry for all the questions. It's just I am new to NI and just want to get the best out of it.

Thanks! :)

Regarding sharpening, please see this Q and A.

On adjusting the filter settings in the Noise Filter Setttings tab, I usually adjust them only in difficult cases. With an accurate noise profile, the default filter settings work well for me.
