Why is processed file so large

Post by bkgs »

I am using Neat Image 7.1 with the Aperture plug in for Mac. My average base file is RAW and has a file size of about 24mb. After processing in Neat Image the new file that is created shows a file size of about 132mb. Am I doing something incorrectly or is there a way to bring the file size back to something manageable i.e. about the original size?

When sending and receiving image data to and from plug-in, Aperture uses lossless TIFF format, which contains uncompressed image. Which is why it is larger than the original compressed RAW. You may want to resave that resulting TIFF file into a JPEG (for example) to make the file size significantly smaller.
