In-camera sharpening vs NI

Post by JimmyCat »

Using the Nikon Standard Picture Control, image sharpening is preset but can be modified.
Should I continue with the preset value or turn it off altogether and just rely on NI?

Sorry about delayed reply.

Ideally, it is better to apply sharpening after noise reduction.

Still, I recommend to test it both ways to see which workflow delivers better visual results with your images.

Thanks for the reply Vlad.

I also have some images which were previously sharpened in Lightroom which I now want to process using NeatImage - should I remove the sharpening before treating them in NeatImage?

If you can remove sharpening then it makes sense to do that.
