Special Channel mixing

I want to ask ability to add one channel to another like describing in book "Professional Photoshop, The Classic Guide to Color Correction/ Dan Margulis. Chapter 5".
It can be realizing by only 4 adjustments:
1. select and preview destination channel (we want to improve it) - R, G, B, C, M, Y, K, L, a or b
2. select adding opposite channel
3. select amount of opposite channel in percent of transparency
4. select final lightness decreasing for resulting channel
By this method we can recover detals which was destroyed by the noise.
