Does R9 280X really outperforms R9 290?

According to the performance database http://fifonik.com/nv/ the R9 280X significantly outperforms R9 290! The results show 22.7fps vs 16.4fps with radius "1", and 43.5 fps vs 27.8 with radius "0" in 1080p mode.

How can this be possible? :) Anyone can confirm that?

You can check the original logs in that database. There also references to the forum members who measured those data.

According to the logs, 280X is faster than 290 when both its chips are used. However, each individual chip of 280X is slower than 290. So it looks like 280X is only faster because both its chips are used together.

Both chips? are you saying that single R9 280X card has 2 GPU's?
Or more likely you are referring to CrossFire technology, right?

edit: oh yess, i haven't noticed that you can hover info icon to get a popup log :) now i see it's basically two 280X cards!

Thanks!

Yes, it looks that way in the logs.

Correct I have two 280x's that are dedicated to NeatVideo. Somewhere I missed the 2 GPU check box. That said running single is about 55% or so of two cards.

Looks like I have to change script and detect more then 1 GPU in log.

I've made some changes. Now if log with more than 1 GPU is copied into textarea, a select with list of GPU numbers will be shown. The select is required.

Also, I have updated the values for 280X that I get from log.
