Compute Capability 5.2 and CUDA7 Compatibility?

The studio I work for just upgraded a bunch of machines to GTX 980's and discovered that our favourite plugin is no longer graphics accelerated...
Is there an expected release date for enabling the use of more modern nvidia cards?
Will it be a major release or a dot release?
