VHS Workflow with Virtual Dub

Hi,
I'm still new to NeatVideo, and my AVI file is uncompress DV, which I believe the video file has a default of RGB colorspace.
1. Since most AVisynth/Virutal Dub filters require YUY2 colorspace, should I clean the video first in a seperate script, then apply additional filters like Decomb etc...?
2. When I look at your sample script, for Virutal Dub, I noticed you are using ConvertToRGB(). Since my capture is from a DV device like the ADVC110 from Canopus to an Uncompress AVI file, do I still need to perform the ConvertToRGB()? I'm trying to reduce colorspace conversion commands as much as possible.
Thanks.
Matt
