Stabilize first for MUCH better results

Post by erikgraham »

Is it me, or do the results improve drastically if you stabilize footage first, then apply Neat?

Seems especially true for drone footage with a lot of vibration.

I guess it makes sense, especially when Neat is comparing multiple frames, but it isn't mentioned in the docs.

That may indeed be a good idea to stabilize first but only if the stabilizer is doing its job very well, not making noise reduction more difficult afterwards.

If you could send us (to support [at] neatvideo) a small test case (a a project with a short test clip, with stabilizer and Neat Video applied to the clip) showing how you use those tools together, we would check which way provides better results.

Thank you,
Vlad

you also want to consider dealing with any strobbing or flickering as neatvideo like many other noise rudction filters can make things WORSE, and even make some scenes like a dream transition ie wavey.
