Neat Video & Neat Image community

Hi,

I've been using Neat Image for years and love it!

I just got Pinnacle Studio 23 Ultimate.

Three questions:

1) Does Neat Video work with Pinnacle?

2) If not, is there a standalone version of Neat Video?

3) If there's no standalone version, can anyone recommend another affordable program similar to Neat Video that I can use to de-scratch my old Super-8 movies?

Neat Video 5 does not support Pinnacle Studio anymore. The earlier versions (like Neat Video 4) did support several versions of Pinnacle Studio.

If you want to use Neat Video 5 to treat specific clips, then you may want to consider using Neat Video in one of the currently supported host applications. For example, VirtualDub2 is a free and simple host application that could be used to reduce noise as well as to apply many other effects.

Does Neat Video 4 support Pinnacle 17 Plus? And is Neat Video 4 still available?

Unfortunately no, that version was not supported by any version of Neat Video.
v4 supported Pinnacle Studio 19 and 18.5.1+.

I have 14 minutes of film to clean up. Is it possible to do it with Neat Video and Virtual Dub 2?

Most likely yes. Try Virtual Dub 2.

It looks to me like neat video is mainly geared toward reducing video noise. How well does it reduce scratches and dirt from film?

Yes, Neat Video is primarily a noise/grain reduction filter. It can reduce some dust and scratches in film. Please see an example of that.

My impression is that that example is a "for illustration only"-type thing -- it looks to me like noise was added to the picture on the left, rather than subtracted from the picture on the right! Can someone here please put up an example of scratch/dirt reduction from one of their own movies? Thanks in advance!
