Sharpening Vs Denoising

Post by kgbrooklyn »

Hi all, I am really excited to be using Neat and the results are outstanding. My question is in regards to best practices:

The footage I am working on is both noisy, and a little out of focus.

Throwing a small mask over the subject's face and applying automatic tracking with Premiere Pro CC seems to help the blurry image.

Would you sharpen the subject's face first, and then apply Neat video, or would you apply Neat first, and sharpen afterwards?

It is usually better to reduce noise filter and sharpen later. If you sharpen before, then some of the noise elements may become more difficult to remove.
