Forgive the newby question, but what's the difference between a device noise profile and a preset?

A device noise profile is a set of data describing the properties of noise present in video.

A filter preset is a set of Neat Video noise filter settings.

Thank you for your response. Can a device noise profile be part of a preset?" Or is it always a 2-step process – load a DNP, then switch over to Noise Filter Settings and load a preset?

Those two parts are always separate.

When I save a preset, does it contain the name of the profile that goes with it? This means that when I load a preset the proper profile is loaded along with the settings related to the preset. If the preset does not know which profile to use, then I would need to manually load a profile and a preset when working on a clip.

Thanks,
Steve

No, a preset does not contain the name of the profile. You can manually specify that name somewhere in the comments of the preset but even in that case, it will not automatically load the profile. Unfortunately, that is not the way the presets and profiles are originally designed to work.

Thank you,
