Using NV with Core i7 vs C2Q?

Hello everyone!!

Just bought NV and i LOVE IT! spent the whole day processing a VHS tape that needed a lot of denoising!

Right now I have:
Core 2 Quad Q9550
OCZ 8GB DDR2 800 Fatal1ty Ram
Windows 7 x64
Sony Vegas Pro 9 X64

The VHS tape is 2 hours long and the NV plugin is used for the whole video. The rendering time is about 12 hours, which I understand is pretty normal.

My question is would a Core i7 make a big enough difference (+30%) in rendering time?
Would DDR2 1066 or 1333 ram make a noticeable difference?

Thanks!

Please see some measurements with i7 in this thread.

Faster memory is certainly better. Use the fastest you can find for best results.

I would also love to know how the i7 compares to the C2Q 9550. Most of my friends tell me that if I wanna have equipment a respectable hacker gets then I would get a C2Q 9550 because its the fastest on the market that is cheap but really fast. They say 9650 and 9750 are much more expensive but not that faster or elecrticity.

They advice me not to buy i7 because its just reworked C2Q and performs less calculation by clock than 9550.

So yes I would like i7 compared to it and not a unnamed dual-core that jp guy said he had. If its not core quad then of course it would take 10 minutes and i7 would take 3, but im saying if C2Q take 4 minutes i7 would probably take 3 minutes 40. If so then my friends are right and this i7 is waste of time to consider.

a nehalem is way more than a "reworked" c2q. the integrated memory controller alone is worth getting one. frankly, i'd recommend you to read up some CPU architecture analysis on anandtech or xbitlabs, instead of believing those friends :)

Ok I read on xbitlabs and it seems i7 features are promising especially for the future. I only understood half though :( but I come to conclusion that it is 40% faster than c2q on average, and really good for specificed tasks. Im not understand most technicalities as i'm unfortunately not that kind of person even though I wish to be. I wonder if theres a spanish version somewhere, I would understand better.
