GPU+CPU Processing slower than GPU/CPU only (OS X 10.8)

I'm on Retina MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8, CUDA drivers 5.0.17) and when I activate CPU+GPU processing in Neat Video (latest version 3.2) the speed is much slower than CPU/GPU only.

Is this a known bug?

Please post the log from Optimize window in NV preferences.

Thank you,

Frame: 1920x1080 progressive, 32 bits per channel, Radius: 1 frame
Running the test data set on up to 8 CPU cores and on up to 1 GPU

CPU only (1 core): 1.71 frames/sec
CPU only (2 cores): 3.4 frames/sec
CPU only (3 cores): 4.69 frames/sec
CPU only (4 cores): 5.41 frames/sec
CPU only (5 cores): 5.18 frames/sec
CPU only (6 cores): 5.15 frames/sec
CPU only (7 cores): 4.93 frames/sec
CPU only (8 cores): 4.9 frames/sec
GPU only (GeForce GT 650M): 2.42 frames/sec
CPU (1 core) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 2.17 frames/sec
CPU (2 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 3.76 frames/sec
CPU (3 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 4.95 frames/sec
CPU (4 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 5.65 frames/sec
CPU (5 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 5.62 frames/sec
CPU (6 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 5.41 frames/sec
CPU (7 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 5.32 frames/sec
CPU (8 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M): 5.26 frames/sec

Best combination: CPU (4 cores) and GPU (GeForce GT 650M)

Hm...now it's faster. One minute ago, GPU speed was about 1 fps, CPU speed is just constant. Crazy!

The CPU seems to be twice faster than that GPU, so it is probably better to use the CPU alone. Mobile GPUs are typically not very fast (as compared with desktop versions) so it is not abnormal for a modern CPU to be that faster than GPU.

Okay, thank you very much.
But there is still a problem with the GTX 650M and Neat Video. Everytime I start denoising, the Terminal jumps in and says I'm out of memory.

Does that happen even if you disable use of GPU in NV Preferences?

No, just when I use GPU only or both together.

Apparently there is some problem with that GPU, perhaps the CUDA driver needs to be updated by NVidia.

Anyway, since that specific GPU is slower than CPU, I recommend to simply disable GPU and use the CPU alone.
