GTX 660m + i7-3610QM Performance issue

Hi, been using Neat vdeo for over two years now and find it invaluable. CUDA acceleration in version 3 was a must have upgrade for me. I just got the Lenovo y580 laptop so that I don't always have to work at my desk. A curious performance issue popped up.

The benchmark shows that CPU only has the fastest performance. Here is the log:

CPU only (6 cores): 4.85 frames/sec
CPU only (7 cores): 4.83 frames/sec

GPU only (GeForce GTX 660M): 2.05 frames/sec
CPU (1 core) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 1.98 frames/sec
CPU (2 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 2.48 frames/sec
CPU (3 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 3.25 frames/sec
CPU (4 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 3.26 frames/sec
CPU (5 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 3.22 frames/sec
CPU (6 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 3.24 frames/sec
CPU (7 cores) and GPU (GeForce GTX 660M): 3.18 frames/sec

Best combination: CPU only (6 cores)
Using driver 295.55, CUDA driver 4.2.1

My desktop Core2 Quad 3.0GHz + GTS450 was accelerated nicely with the GPU. Any ideas?

It looks like in this case, Intel wins: that CPU is indeed faster than that GPU. That is not unusual.

Well that is a pity. At least my Mercury Playback Engine is still accelerated!
