FCE crashing when rendering

Post by twinsmom899 » Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:20 pm

I have several clips of video that only have noise reduction applied to them (I am converting old 8mm film to DVD). FCE locks up everytime I try to render the clip. Clip segments are at most 12 minutes long. I have tried making them shorter, into 6 minute clips-FCE still locks up. The rendering seems to make it to about the 80% range and then it locks up. This has been happening with multiple clips. When my mac locks up the only thing I can do to it is hit the power button to turn it off. I am unable to do a force quit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am in a time crunch, I need to have this job finished for Thanksgiving.

If it locks up this way, it can be a hardware issue caused by overheating due to heavy processing.

Try to disable multiprocessor support in NV Preferences (in v2) or set the number of used cores to 1 (in v3). This will reduce the CPU load and hopefully help to avoid overheating.
