Building noise profiles from calibration targets

Post by Rareboy »

Hello guys, I recently used your calibration target to make noise profiles for my camera at various chip sensitivities and different resolutions.
My main profile was for 1080i 0dB/3dB/6dB.
This was my workflow:
1. Shot calibration target at 1080i at various sensitivities
2. Build 3 Noise Profiles (for different sensitivity) from shot of a calibration target.
3. Tested this noise profile with real footage that was shot on exact same resolution and exact same chip sensitivity

Now I have a question if I can copy/paste noise profiles from pure calibration target shots to real footage to have good noise profile and less noise,
or before every shot i have to shoot calibration target and then shoot the real footage?

I am posting pictures and test footage so you can judge if the whole process went wrong or not:

thank you so much

Both ways would work. Of course it would work better if you included the target in the beginning of each shot and then built a noise profile using that initial part of the clip.
