Minolta D7Hi?
Minolta D7Hi?
Has anyone built noise profiles for the Minolta D7Hi? I've been using Engbert's D7I profiles, and they seem to work fine, but I read (somewhere) that they might not be appropriate for the D7Hi and my eye isn't good enough to tell if I'm doing more harm than good. Thanks... chas (P.S.- Thanks for getting these boards up. With the popularity of NeatImage, I hope to see these boards become as popular as the Retouching Forum at http://www.dpreview.com )
D7i profiles
You can find them here: http://neatimage.com/profiles.html
Thanks Chas for the above link.
I have tried these profiles on a test shot this morning & have got better results than my own efforts. Have you any tips on fine tuning established profiles?
I find that many of my photos do not have sufficient clear areas for a selection & keep getting the message 'too small etc'.
I still don't really understand how to decide when tweaking the histogram section when an improvement has been made.

You may want to download a test target image from http://www.neatimage.com/testtarget.html that you can use to generate noise profiles for your camera. The directions for using it are easy - display it on your monitor, take an out-of -focus picture of the screen and then use the picture to generate a noise profile. I used it to create a set of profiles at different ISOs for my Canon S45 and they work extremely well.caldwellk wrote: I find that many of my photos do not have sufficient clear areas for a selection & keep getting the message 'too small etc'.
