I have a drum scanner that is capable of creating very large files, and is also capable of showing the grain even on slow, fine-grained film.
Is this program capable of processing very large files (500 MB 8bit grayscale and >1GB color files)?
Large files
I just filtered a 280mb 8 bit drum scan of a 4x5 transparency (cropped). Took around 40 mins on an Athlon XP 2100+, 1.5gb Ram. I don't think that is excessive, given the high quality end result.
I ran a test to assess any loss of sharpness, or image acutance or detail, by using Nik Sharpener Pro's image scan to assess the sharpness of the image before and after applying Neat. There was barely any difference, which matches my own subjective impression that image detail is only minimally affected.
