Possible to "overbuild" a profile?

Post by KHatfull »

Greetings,

Love the product...WELL worth the money.

That said, my question is this: Is it possible to "overbuild" a profile? In other words, is there a point of diminishing returns if I say used the auto tuning on a printed calibration target then tune with a sample from each individual square on the target? Is there a point where you degrade the profile rather than improve it?

Any guidance in how many samples are necessary or proper to build a good profile would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

No, it is not possible to "over-build" a profile. Every time you analyze an area, the profile is changed to better match the noise properties of this area. If you select a really flat and featureless area, then you indeed accurately measure the properly of noise. If you measure an area with some features then the profile gets analysis of both noise and these features, thus making the profile inaccurate.
It doesn't matter how many times you analyse an area (areas) which gives a value to speciific slider of the equalizer. As soon as the value is in the equalizer (it's marked by greed shadow) and it is obtained from a really flat and featureless area, you already have an accurate value for this slider and there is no need and way to make it better. If you measure more areas which are related to this slider, its value may remain the same, or it may become less accurate if you select not featureless area.

So, the idea is just to fill the equalizer with green shadings. Once a value is shaded in green, there is no need to continue with this slider.
