Home versus Pro version

This may have been answered previously, but what is the difference between the versions and the benefits to a hobbyist to purchase the higher priced version. I stumbled across an example of the software benefits while reading a review of the Minolta Scan Dual III and it looks like great companion to any scanner. My current equipment is a Coolpix 990 and Photoshop 5.5

As compared with the Home edition, the Pro edition can process unlimited number of filtration jobs in batch/queue. Also, it fully supports 16-bit image processing.
