I suspect you would need to pay a nasty licence fee to add LZW?
Maybe the Photoshop plug-in will eliminate my desire for this anyway.
Will the PS plug in still allow you to batch queue? If so, then I think I will use the PS plug-in all the time.
(I scan film with Vuescan, save in TIFF, then use PS and/or NI).

Yes, LZW needs a license just for the right to implement it.
Plugin will delegate this issue to an image editor and in this way solve the problem.
Batching in Photoshop is based on Photoshop's batching facilities, while NI plugin just works like any other plugin (it is just slightly more complex).
