Canon G2 noise profiles

Post by rzurga »

I have printed the NI calibration target on white and thick color copy paper on HP Color Laserjet 4500N. Then when the sun was rather low on horizon (so I could do all ISO settings under the same circustamstances and in one go) set the white balance to the central area 128 and took 5 shots each (ISO Auto, 50, 100, 200, 400) in raw and JPEG mode. I made the shots close up with the manual focus set to infinity to blur them on purpose. Then back at PC for each I did a rough noise analyzer on the central area 128 then clicked on "Auto fine-tune" and saved the resulting DNP files.

Should I have clicked on "Auto complete" as well?

The results are in http://zurga.com/CanonG2dnp.zip

Thank you for the profiles!

You did everything correctly. Good profiles!

When you used "Auto fine-tune", it automatically invoked "Auto complete", so no need to click it manually.

Can I put these profiles at NI webpage for people to use?

Sure, I'd be happy if fellow G2 owners would find these profiles helpful.

Thanks for info and for making this great program. Whomever I show the before and after images there is always a WOW effect.

I forgot to add that the raw calibration shots have been converted using BreezeBrowser in normal mode.
