Removing noise in very small areas / another filter slider

Post by archimedes »

I am using NI on Superia 100 negatives scanned with a Nikon LS 4000ED.

This combination causes sparse but noticeable single dark pixels in the image - especially when sharpened.

NI is able to eliminate them completely, but this requires the noise filter settings to be set at or beyond 100%

From the impression of the image, I would prefer to keep especially the noise filter settings at approximately -30%. However this causes the dark pixels to pop out again.

Would it be possible to introduce another slider for the noise filter settings and noise amounts just for noise covering only one pixel in width. Probaly named "ultra high frequency".

It sounds more like a hot-pixel type of noise..

Ok, thanks for the idea. Will consider what we can about it and whether hot pixel removal approach can be used for this.
