I am using Minolta DSD 3 film scanner and NeatImage Pro. I found that I need to create a Device Noise Profile for each Brand and Type of film. I think it is because each film has different film grain characteristics. Is this what is recommended by NeatImage? Is there any other better suggestion?
Thanks.

Device Noise Profile for Film Scanner
Film grain
In fact you could need several profiles per film. A film contains layers of different speed.
If there is a lot of light, the high speed layer, which is also the most fine grained will take
the most of the image and you will have very little grain. If there is little light, a more sensitive
but more coarse grained layer is used. With a negative film, the grain should be fine in overexposed picture areas and corse in underexposed areas. This also means if your whole picture is underexposed (exposure error, for exemple), you can apparentyly compensate the exposition with your scanner, but you will get a lot of grain.
