Using the Calibration Target

Post by Richard »

I have downloaded the target, printed out, and have taken the recommended infinity focused pictures at differing ISO speeds. The target did not quite fill the entire frame, and there are some detail containing areas around the target.

What is the recommended way of generating profiles? I intend to use the central area to build the rough noise profile, and then use the auto fine-tune button. Should I then select the various other patches to extra fine-tune manually, or would that not add anything to the profile?

You may just use the auto fine-tuning as it works well with the test target and the resulting profile is quite accurate.

Regarding the procedure for building profiles, this is described in details in the user guide:
http://www.neatimage.com/ug/Prepare_rough_DNP.htm
http://www.neatimage.com/ug/Fine-tune_rough_DNP.htm

This procedure should be used when an ad-hoc profile is generated for some image, as well as when you build generic profiles for your camera (working in different modes, e.g., with different ISO rate) with the test target.

Hope this helps.

Having created the profiles, how do I upload them here to share them?
