Sony VIAO unexpected shutdown

Strangely, my VAIO laptop (less than a year old) suddenly shuts down while running Neat Image. No warning, just a black screen and the sound of the drive spinning down. I realize it's a longshot but I thought I'd ask if anyone has a clue what the problem might be. I've run every virus checker known to man as well as scanned for the Blaster worm. I'm running XP SP1 and am fully up to date (via Windows Update). I happens no matter what software I have running it seems. Video RAM perhaps?

I think the overheating answer could be spot on, I'll take a peek using hmonitor.
