noise profiles at different image sizes?
Has anyone tested making noise profiles at the different image sizes that the camera produces? It seems to me that when you're using a smaller image size that the camera could produce images with less noise than the full or normal size images.
Smaller size/less noise?
A late answer to the question.
When you take a picture the camera first always stores a RAW file. If you have set the camera to a smaller size, say JPEG 640x480, it simply downsamples and compresses the image to that size, and it appears to have(and has) less visible noise.
It the same as when you view a big picture on your monitor.
When you downsize it, the noise becomes less visible.
