Nikon CoolPix RAW images and no ISO speeds

Post by andewid »

This happen when the camera is set to Auto ISO mode combined with RAW file format. then the ISO rating is stored as "auto" instead of a number. This confuses NI and it always selects the ISO 800 profile.

Is there a way to make NI make a better guess, perhaps by "testing" the available RAW profiles with the current image?

If there is not information about real ISO level in the EXIF data, then NI has no way to find a profile that matches the unknown ISO level.

Use Auto Profile feature instead to prepare a new profile using the input image itself.

Currently I am manually selecting the closest ISO match I can determine myself and the fine tune it. Seem to work ok.

This only happens with Auto-ISO and RAW mode and not with JPEG. Maybe I should ask Nikon to make a firmware update for it.
