Test Target Printing

I would like to make a scanner profile for my Coolscan V according to the guideline at
http://www.neatimage.com/testtarget.html

Question: Is it sufficient to print the test target with an ink jet printer (Canon 850i with high resolution) on an overhead slide and to use this instead of a laboratory-developed slide?

Which degree of improvement can be achieved with a perfect device specific profile compared to the automatic profiling? Is it worth the work?

Best regards
Joachim

I think it is sufficient to use the ink-jet, but make sure you then scan the result out-of-focus to avoid picking up any detals introduced by the printer.
