Profiles for undocumented filmscanners

Post by DACORWIN »

Am doing my pre-purchase homework on film scanners and 3rd party software. Have looked at some that have Digital Ice & some that don't. Will probably narrow the search to those that have the 4th IR channel for dust/dirt/scratch removal.

Several of the brands I'm looking at don't have software similar to Neat & Neat doesn't have a profile for them.

Is the process to create a profile for an undocumented film scanner as easy as the process for creating one for a camera?? Take a slide of 35mm chrome of a blank sky, scan it then manually create the profile by tweaking the scanned image??

Or am I out in left field??

Yes, the profiling process is very simple and easy both for scanners and cameras. You can find all details in Neat Image user guide.

Moreover, you can use Neat Image Calibration Target for better profiling results insteat of using an image of a blank sky.
