PS Layers

If I use NI with Adobe CS as a layer and add other layers the layers no longer seem to be distinct. For example I will copy the background layer and use NI plugin and you can see the changes done by NI. But if I add another layer from the background and sharpen the picture, the sharpening does not show up. When I delete the NI layer I can see the sharpen layer. I can turnoff the NI layer and can see the sharpen layer. This only happens with plugins added to layers. I can add new adjustments layers and all is well. Any idea what is going on here?

It is very difficult to get any idea of what is going on without an accurate step-by-step description. Please give us an instruction how to reproduce the effect you observe and we will try to figure out what is going on there.
