Hell NI Support,

I have a problem with installing the new version with wine.

I get the following error message:
michael@Licorne:/home/data/Software/Digitalfoto/NeatImage/4.32$ wine ./NeatSetup.exe

WineDbg starting on pid 0xa

I did uninstall the previous version (the dirty way; deleting the directory and the registry keys by hand, since uninstall wouldn't work).

Do you have any help? Are there things I should try?
I can send further info on request.

Best regards,

Michael Reiger

Please try to re-download the software. This will probably help.

Thank you,
Vlad

Unfortunately not. :-(
I get the exact same error message.

Did you change anything in the software?

By the way I get the same error message with version 4.25, which I had up and running until recently.

Are there any specific settings in wine I should set to get the software installed?

No, I didn't change anything. I was thinking of an incomplete download.

Do you keep an older version of Neat Image to try install it to this new Wine?

Um. I also tried 4.2 and 4.1, with no luck (and pretty much the same error message.)

Well, they again "improved" Wine...

We will have to install the new version of Wine to reproduce the error. Then we will try to find a workaround.

Thank you,
Vlad

Thanks, Vlad.

Have I ever mentioned that the support you and your coworkers give is awesome?

Michael,

We have tried to run the installer in Wine 20040914 (but compiled with an older version of glibc) and could not reproduce that problem. There are some complaints about icons and shortcuts but the software installs and works afterwards.

If you like I can send you the software in an alternative package so that you could manually install it to Wine.

It works

Hi Vlad,

it works now.
I had just forgotten to move my old wine directory out of the way. Something in there was obviously twisted in a way that prevented installing. Well, I had fiddled around with it some time..
(the funny thing is, NeatImage 4.25 had worked flawlessly. Only upgrading caused the problem.)

Well, after a clean reinstall of Wine everything is OK.

Thank you for your effort, and sorry for bothering you with something I should have checked beforehand anyway.

Cheers,

Michael
