selecting plug-in folder[s] during Pro+ installation

Post by Stanley Krute »

Hi

Just upgraded to Pro+. Fun to have NI inside PS.

However: during installation, a plug-in folder is suggested.
One can say yea or nay. But one cannot change the folder.
At least as far as I was able to determine.

Big pain for we who have multiple plug-in-folder-bearing
apps.

So: I'd like to be able to specify the plug-in folder by
typing/browsing.

Also: while you're at it: I'd like to specify more than one
plug-in folder.

Thanks for a great product.

Normally Neat Image is looking for the applications that support it and offers to automatically install the plug-in in those applications. It can find PS, PSE, PSP. And you can manually copy the plug-in to other applications. BTW, which applications do you install the Neat Image plug-in to? Are they in the list above or is it something different?

Regarding your suggestion to manually select the target folder, yes that could be an option. We will check whether our installer can support that.

Thank you,
Vlad

I've got Photoshop 7, Photoshop Elements 3, and an expired
Photoshop CS installed on my machine.

The installer algorithm seems to be to install into the most-recently-installed
app's plug-in folder.

In my case, it offered to install into PSE 3. The most recently
installed plug-in app. Since I'd just installed it to learn some stuff
for a client, I uninstalled it, and tried the
NI installer again.

This time, it offered to install into the PS CS plugin folder.
Well, I needed to uninstall that tryout anyways. So I did.

Ran the NI installer again. This time it offered to install into
PS 7's plug-ins folder, which I'd wanted from the beginning.

I wasn't sure about that. Some plug-ins do complex
non-standard shmootz. Glad to know NI is a normal.

It would make things easier for we who have many apps installed.

Thanks for the prompt response.
