Just bought the Home Edition of NI (will upgrade to the 16 bit virgin if needed later). Question: Is it better to use NI first, then post process in PS or is it better to do your work in PS first, then NI as a final touch...or, does it matter??

This mostly depends on the postprocessing operations you do in PS. Please also see this answer in NI Q&A list.
