Photoshop CS2 plugin issue - resolved

Post by sam »

When I use Neat Image in PS CS2 and click APPLY, I'm left with a blank Photoshop workspace with no photo, toolbars, layers, or anything. If I minimize Photoshop and then maximize, everything comes back.

Do you have a fix for this? I'm using Neat Image 5.25.

I think I may have a solution for you, please contact me by e-mail.

Before you purchased Neat Image from us, did you run any version of Neat Image that was downloaded from a webpage other than the official webpage? That may be causing the problem, especially if that version was in some way corrupted.

Please contact me by e-mail and I will try to help.

Thank you,
Vlad

I don't believe that this has anything to do with having a previously installed copy of NeatImage. I just did a fresh install of Windows, installed NeatImage 5.2 and this same issue started happening.

It may have to do with a corruption in a copy of Neat Image you use.

Please contact me by e-mail and I will try to help.

I have a similar issue:

Running PS CS
Downloaded freeware trial version of NI
Worked very nicely
Decided to purchase the pro version, but
Upgraded to CS2 first
Now NI won't run (CS deleted) either as a CS2 plugin or stand alone
Actually locks up CS2
Have to hit esc to get NI window to show up and then
it is not the previous start up window

Reloaded CS2
Deleted all versions of NI
Re-downloaded NI from web
Reinstalled... same problem

I relay like the NI application and want it, will purchase the full version
but need to resolve this issue first.

thanks for any help

I don't understand which version and edition of Neat Image you use. Could you clarify this point please?

Also, please download the current version of Neat Image Demo edition from our website to see if it works correctly on your computer.

Thanks for the very quick resonse.

Last night I uninstalled everything I could find associated with NI. I then downloaded ver 5.3 from your site and installed it. Same problem. This caused me to believe that some corrupted fragments of NI might be hanging around in the CS2 plugin directory. So I uninstalled CS2 and did it all over again. Same problem.

What I see now from either running NI from the desktop or from the CS2 plugin

The NI yellow flower screen open on my desktop. I click OK and it immediately minimizes. It will not restore. Now everything I click on is locked up and I get the ding-ding error tone.

If I hit esc, the window resotores, but it is a different start up window (says filtering que) and won't do anything. Hope this helps.

Try to start Neat Image with Ctrl key pressed.

Will do this later tonight and report the results. What do you expect I will see when using ctrl start up, and what does this mean?

I think I solved part of the problem. I used the ctrl click on NI to start it and it started.

I then uninstalled NI

I then looked in the PSCS2 plugin folder and found NI and then deleted it.

I then did a search of "my computer" with win explorer and found more NI stuff.... deleted it all.

I then downloaded ver 5.3 from your site. Installed it and it runs from my desktop.... wonderful... great, nice.

I then opened PSCS2 and found that it had not loaded into the plugins.

I manually copied NI to the plug in folder.. didn't load or run.

I rebooted, no change. I thought ver 5.3 was supposed to run in both areas, but I can live with the desktop ver only if that is all I can get.

thanks

The Demo edition does not include the plug-in. You may want to purchase a license for the Home+ or Pro+ edition to be able to use the plug-in in CS2.

Thanks, that is what I'll do. I was afraid I had messed up again. Apparently, my original problem was a bunch of NI seaweed drifting around my computer from all the ill-fated attempts at loading and uninstalling.

So now I need to uninstall the demo version and find all the wild-child parts floating around and zap them too, then purchase and dowload a full version from scratch....

or can I upgrade what I have?

What do you have exactly? - You haven't specified that.

If you have Demo edition v5.3 from our website then you have to order a license to get one of non-Demo editions. Please use this page to place an order.

Thank you,
