Banding

Hi,
I use the Home+ edition, (8bit) and I sometimes get banding in stong blue skies. I'm guessing the banding would disappear and leave smooth grading if I process the image in 16 bit (ie. upgrade) is this right?

But then, when I save the image as a JPG it converts back to 8 bit--- in this case would the banding return on the image?

I would try to determine the cause of that banding in the first place. It may be saving into a JPG that produces banding, it may be something else. Please send a complete example (input image, noise profile, filter preset, output image and description of output settings) to support e-mail address and we will check what is causing the banding.
