noise mask

Can neat Image be used in conjunction with a noise mask? If I duplicate a layer and run the find edges from stylize menu will neat image work I tried it and couldn't get it to work but I might be missing something?TIA

Neat Image undestands selections in Photoshop so if you select an area to be filtered then NI will clean only that selected area in the layer.
