Capture NX has great non-descrutive edit steps for Nikon NEF editing, but the noise reduction is just awful in comparison. Any chance of getting a plugin??

Capture NX (like many other tools and unlike, for example, Photoshop) is not open to independent third-party plug-in developers. Therefore, there is still no standard way to develop a plug-in for Capture NX, afaik.

There used to be a Nikon SDK for Capture available to 3rd-party developers. No longer the case?

I haven't seen an SDK for Capture, only SDKs for Nikon cameras, NEF format and Nikon scanners.
