Image gone in Device Noise Profile (Pro v7.5, Linux)

Post by tuxbox »

Hi,
just bought the Standalone version and have a problem
using the device noise profile tab.
On switching to it the image is shown only the lower half.
After using e.g. AutoProfile the image isn't vivisble anymore.
When zooming around a bit it gets back/is visible.
This is quite annoying.
Is this a known Problem?

Thanks,
Frank

after some more work done in NeatImage it seems its
not only the Device Noise Profile tab, but every tab
has problems being shown correctly.

I sometimes just get lower part of the image shown
or even nothing.
Most times zooming in and out again helps a while.

I have a Intel Gfxcard using newest xf86-video-intel
driver.
Could this be a problem with opencl not working/using gpu with
intel cards?

Thanks,
Frank

It is probably a problem related to that specific version of Linux as we discussed by e-mail.. We are studying that issue.

Hi,

after doing quite a lot of testing and research i think i found the culprit and it is more or less a bug in the current intel x11 driver.

Current versions use the new sna accelartion method (a lot faster, but not as stable/bug free then the earlier uxa).
Many bugfixes (also many for images not being correctly shown any more) for sna mode came in the last weeks, but this one seems not to be handled for now.

So, my current workaround is to enable uxa again. After this (and a restart of x, of course) NeatImage shows every image just fine and without any need to zoom around. :-)

Hopefully this will get fixed upstream in the intel gfxcard driver as sna is a lot faster than uxa.

Yours,
Frank

Thank you for letting me know. It is good that you could find the cause of the problem and a workaround as well.

Kind regards,
Vlad
