Sharpening & Noise Reduction: Can it be used on Log Files?

Post by DrOmalpalli »

Hello,

I have a Question regarding Log file footage in ProRes 4444 XQ. I'm using NeatVideo 5 as a FCPX plugin. Next month, I will be transitioning to Resolve 16.

In both of these settings (FCPX and Resolve16), I was wondering whether NeatVideo 5 can be used directly on the Log file, or whether I should do a Preliminary Color-Correction first and then use NeatVideo 5.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Regards,
Rajnesh

You can apply it to the original video data too, just make sure you select the correct gamma (in the lower left corner of Neat Video window)
to make the preview inside Neat Video look correct. If you cannot achieve correct preview this way, then it is best to color correct before Neat Video.
